Research

My research focuses on Britain and Ireland in the early modern period. My work has examined intellectual approaches to colonialism and imperialism in the Atlantic world in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. I am currently researching the roles of Renaissance humanism and Protestantism as driving ideologies in the English colonisation of Ireland between 1515 and 1625.

Books:

Humanist and Protestant Thought in the English Colonisation of Ireland: Improving the Commonwealth (Routledge: Forthcoming).
