DIY Lab - School of Humanities and Languages

Occasional Thursdays, 12-1pm, in Morven Brown Room G4. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Do-It-Yourself Laboratory (DIY Lab) meetings will give research students, postdocs, and early career researchers the opportunity to present work in progress for peer feedback. These workshops will run the gamut. Presentations involving preliminary ideas for new projects might involve inviting audience members to help parse primary and secondary source materials. Or, at the other end of the spectrum, presenters might ask for feedback on an article manuscript or a practice job talk. These DIY Labs will have an open ended format—they will be shaped by the presenters and the audience participants. Watch for announcements of upcoming Lab events. By request, DIY Labs can also cover special topics, like: how to publish in a journal; how to write a job application; how to formulate a book proposal.

If you would like to present, please contact the School Deputy Postgraduate Research Coordinator: Dr. Eben Kirksey,
