Abstract: My talk will be dedicated to the reality of working as an interpreter and translator for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It will cover various aspects of my professional experience as official interpreter for high ranking delegation visits and international conferences, such as protocol, etiquette, situation management, the question of how to deal with errors (both committed by the interpreter and the delegations, mistakes to avoid, good preparation...

Bio: I graduated as a conference interpreter for German, French and Spanish from Heidelberg University, Germany, in 1991. I obtained a Graduate Certificate in Arts in Interpreting for German-English at UNSW, Sydney, in 2009. My working experience includes working as an interpreter and translator for the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the Federal Ministry of Defence and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, as a simultaneous interpreter for the European Commission and as freelance interpreter. Working languages: German (A), French (B), Spanish and English (C). I am a member of AIIC.
