Despite their significant place in twentieth century French thought, the oeuvres of Raymond Ruyer (1902-1987) and Gilbert Simondon (1924-1989) are still now being discovered in the English-speaking world. In both, we find a detailed grasp of the sciences of their day married with an ambition to renew the project of metaphysics.

This inaugural international conference will consider the two thinkers, together and their own terms, on the basis of their contributions to ontology, the philosophy of biology, the philosophy of technology and information, aesthetics and politics.
