Translation Quality, Translation Assessment and Translator Education

UNSW Australia is very pleased to announce a full day workshop for translator educators. This workshop particularly focuses on issues and questions associated with translation assessment in educational institutions, such as:

  • To what degree is context incorporated in translation assessment?
  • What kind of feedback is provided for formative assessment?
  • Is there a common meta-language for translation assessment?

These questions will be discussed in relation to the current views on translation and translation quality (Melby et al 2014, Koby et al 2014, Fields et al 2014) and a meaning-oriented approach to translation assessment (Kim 2009).

There is no fee for registration for this workshop as it is fully sponsored by the School of Humanities and Languages of UNSW Australia. Anyone who is involved in translator education is welcome to participate. However, due to the limit of space, we will not be able to invite more than 20 participants. If you are interested, please fill out the form attached and send it to Dr Mira Kim ( by Friday 27 March 2015.
