Joanne Faulkner's new book The Importance of Being Innocent: why we worry about children (Cambridge University Press, 2010) has been featured in the Courier Mail and Daily Telegraph as part of the public debate over the role of children in Australian society.

Dr Faulkner's book argues the role of the child in Australia in relation to power, community fantasies and the role of innocence. In The Importance of Being Innocent Dr. Faulkner argues that the fears and hopes of Australians towards their children are connected with an Australian obsession about childhood innocence and innocent children.
