Guidelines

Introductory Italian courses are designed for students with little or no knowledge of Italian.

If you undertake Italian Studies as a minor, you will need to complete some components of your study through cross-institutional study at the University of Sydney.

Placement into higher level (ITLN2xxx) courses at the University of Sydney depends on your prior knowledge of the language. Please consult the University of Sydney Handbook under the Subject Areas tab for more information.

Cross-Institutional Arrangement with University of Sydney

Please note: Cross-Institutional enrolment at University of Sydney in upper level courses is only for student minoring in Italian.

Submitted applications are processed in order of receipt. As some classes fill up very quickly, it is in a student’s best interests to submit the Online Application Form as soon as possible.

Students from other Faculties who wish to undertake language courses to fulfil open electives or general education requirements should ensure that these courses count towards the requirements of their degree programs with the relevant Program Authority.

Only ARTS1620 (offer in S1) and ARTS1621 (offered in S2) can be studies to fulfil open electives or general education requirements.

If you feel that your starting course is not appropriate for your language level after attending first week of classes in the semester, please contact the course convenor to discuss the feasibility of changing to a higher/lower level course. Any changes to enrolment must be approved by the Discipline Advisor and finalised by Friday, Week 2 of the semester.
